• After more than five years at construction company Caterpillar as UK recruitment manager and more recently head of EMEA recruitment, Mark Smith joins online retail giant Amazon, heading up talent acquisition for seller services division and transactional risk management services at Amazon across EMEA.

• Recruitment cloud software provider Bullhorn has brought Simon Greening back to the company in its Sydney office in Australia.

Greening, who worked for Bullhorn from 2012-15, is the new regional director for Asia-Pacific.

• Bury St Edmunds-based Compass Point Recruitment has appointed Beverley Gedge as new operations director, at a time when the company is reporting an increase in job vacancies in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Gedge will be taking over operational activities from managing director Rebecca Thurlow and will be working with a team of seven recruitment managers.

• Construction, maintenance and engineering staffing specialist Daniel Owen has appointed Colin Yoshioka-Smith to the new role of head of in-house recruitment. 

Yoshioka-Smith previously held senior recruitment roles in agencies including Hays and Kelly, and most recently was senior in-house recruiter at technical staffing specialist CBSbutler. He is based in the firm’s City of London office.

• Global executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles has promoted six consultants to partner. They are:

  • Lewis Adams, partner, industrial practice (Mexico City)
  • Scott Atkinson, partner, financial services practice (San Francisco)
  • Ryan Bulkoski, partner, financial services practice (San Francisco)
  • Amanda Henkel, partner, industrial practice (Chicago)

• Technical, engineering and rail recruiter Morson has strengthened its team with a number of new hires.

    • The managing director at specialist technology recruiter Networkers is to join the board of specialist recruitment group Gattaca.

    James Smith was appointed MD following the acquisition of Networkers and Gattaca’s strategic review of the combined Technology business.

    Smith joined Networkers in 1998 as recruitment consultant, previously holding the roles of head of specialist IT markets and managing director for global IT.

    • Executive search firm Norman Broadbent has made a number of hires across its executive search, senior interim management, solutions and research & insight teams. The new hires include:

    • Neil Pilkington in the firm’s executive search TMT (technology, media and telecommunications) & digital practice, specialising in the chief technology/investment officer market
    • Jonathan Stringer in Norman Broadbent Interim Management (NBIM) as a director specialising in finance
    • Andy Haldenby in NBIM in a business development role
    • Tony Vickers in NB: Solutions as retail & consumer head of practice
    • Phillippa Dunlop in Norman Broadbent’s research & insight team, supporting the TMT and digital practice

    • Australia-headquartered executive search firm Oceans Group has appointed Paul French to lead its infrastructure, transport & construction division. Oceans Group is part of the Harrier Human Capital Group.

    • Construction and property recruitment specialist Potensis has made three senior appointments.

    Stephen Hooper, formerly account director at PMP Recruitment and most recently Meridian Business Services, joins as strategic account director; Claire Doherty, formerly Cordant Group marketing director, joins to head up marketing at Potensis; and Ashley Taylor, formerly head of finance at Penna and most recently Lee Hecht Harrison | Penna, joins as finance director.

    FINANCIALS: ‘Stable’ first quarter for Adecco

    Adecco has reported “stable” first-quarter revenues of €5.7m (£4.9m) today [7 May 2024], while experiencing a net negative effect of currency conversion and working days with a net negative impact.
