Staffline remains tight-lipped over reported bid for NHS Professionals

Staffline Group says it is unable to comment over reports linking the staffing and employability firm with a bid to take a controlling stake in NHS Professionals.

Over the weekend, Sky News claimed it had learned Staffline made a bid on Friday to take a majority stake in NHS Professionals – the government’s own recruitment agency responsible for supplying 88,000 doctors and nurses to UK hospitals.

In November, Recruiter reported the government was moving to privatise NHS Professionals, and was looking for an investor to take a majority stake in the agency, with a tendering process launched through an advert in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).

Sky News also claimed Staffline is one of two shortlisted bidders for NHS Professionals, which has an estimated worth of £50m.

When contacted by Recruiter about the reported bid, a spokesperson for public limited company Staffline said they were unable to comment.

Last month, reports claimed recruiters Hays and HCL were among the bidders to take a controlling stake in NHS Professionals.
