Budget airline Ryanair has announced new routes at three regional UK airports due to take off next summer, which should carry 1m extra passengers and create 1,000 new jobs.

Five new routes will depart from Manchester Airport to Corfu, Krakow, Lanzarote, Paphos and Trapani, while there will be two new routes to Lublin and Zadar from Liverpool and a further two from East Midlands to Marseille and Menorca.

The extra 1m passengers this should accommodate will create 1,000 new jobs, Ryanair says, based on the ratio used by the Airports Council International of one on-site job per 1,000 passengers.

The new routes will be available for booking from tomorrow (1 November). Ryanair did not state when recruitment for the new roles will begin.
