Wales Online reports the Norwegian-owned Sapa Components’ UK plant in Bedwas, South Wales is to reopen following a £9.6m investment, creating 130 jobs over the next five years. The Bedwas site, near Caerphilly, was mothballed in 2014 following “significant” changes in market conditions but was retained by Sapa.

The site will produce aluminium components for a new zero-emissions capable London cab, the TX-5, replacing the diesel-powered black cab with a model that uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The investment is backed by £550k from the Welsh government.
