Companies announce nearly 800 new UK jobs

Smart home battery company Moixa, Brasserie Bar Co and Restwell Manufacturing are collectively creating 780 jobs in the UK.

The Manchester Evening News reports Moixa plans to create 60 jobs in Manchester after securing a £1m funding facility from Greater Manchester Combined Authority, enabling it to open a regional sales and delivery centre in the city. The firm expects to have 20 local staff within a year, with plans to grow to 60.

Meanwhile, Brasserie Bar Co, whose businesses include Brasserie Blanc and the White Brasserie Company, revealed in a statement today, it is to open 24 new sites creating 700 new jobs, thanks to £20m from entrepreneur bank OakNorth.

The group, whose premium casual dining concept was originally developed by Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc and which operates from 20 sites across the UK, said it would use the funding to open 24 new sites by 2022 taking their total estate to 59.

Law firm Dentons, led by partner Lee Federman, advised OakNorth on the deal.

In Northern Ireland, Coalisland-based manufacturer Restwell Manufacturing is creating 20 new jobs during the coming months.

The firm, which manufactures mattresses, headboards and divan beds for the wholesale and retail markets, says it is encouraging applications from school leavers and those returning to work due to the expansion of its production capabilities and workforce.

Regional development agency Invest NI has offered Restwell Manufacturing over £112k towards the purchase of new equipment, marketing costs and the hiring of the 20 recruits.

Meanwhile, at the annual Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Land Warfare Conference, defence secretary Sir Michael Fallon has today announced a six-year £48m Apache helicopter training contract.

The investment in Apache air and ground crew will support around 70 jobs in Dorset, Hampshire and Suffolk with Aviation Training International Ltd (ATIL). The programme sees around 700 Army personnel go through the training scheme per year, including around 50 pilots and 400 ground crew.
