Two companies create jobs on Ireland’s West Coast

The West of Ireland has received a jobs boost with more than 150 new roles set to arrive in the area.

Wedding planning company The Knot Worldwide is to create 100 new jobs at an operations centre in Galway city, while pharmaceutical giant Allergan has announced 63 jobs for its Mayo plant, Irish state broadcaster RTE reports.

According to its website, The Knot Worldwide has planned weddings for more than 40m couples and has a number of different specialist websites relating to weddings. The company is looking for content writers and customer support staff for the Galway base.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical company Allergan – which includes Botox among its medical portfolio – is investing €65m (£56m) in its Irish operations, which includes R&D bases in Dublin, Mayo and Galway.

The investment will include 63 new high-skilled jobs at the company’s Westport campus in Mayo, which includes a pharmaceuticals facility, two biologics plants and an ocular implant facility.

The Westport campus is also responsible for Allergan’s global supply of Botox.
