Tue, 27 Aug 2013The number of vacancies in the UK in July totalled 524,656, a marginal (0.1%) drop since June, and the fourth consecutive month of virtually the same level of advertisements after 2.3% growth was seen between January and April.

The total is according to job search engine Adzuna's most recent UK Job Market report, and is slightly lowe than the Office for National Statistics' estimate for the three-month period May to July, as released earlier this month.

Just over a quarter of these vacancies (132,672) are in London, with a further 86,390 in the South East, 41,864 in the South West and 39,325 in the North West.

Adzuna also notes that manufacturing and construction vacancies numbers are heading back towards their pre-recession levels, with construction vacancies up 9% year-on-year.

The energy, oil & gas and legal sectors have seen substantial salary growth over the past six months, with the period seeing pay packets grow 7.3% and 6.9% respectively, while charity & voluntary jobs have also been boosted by 4.4%.

The 11,911 HR jobs on offer nationally had an average salary of £32,173k, 5% lower than at the start of the year.

Nationally, average salaries are 3.5% down year-on-year, equating to 6.4% in real terms.
