Lockdown doesn’t stop firms creating new jobs

Although UK businesses are going through a tough time, Recruiter highlights some good news on the job front.

North-East logistics company Stiller Warehousing and Distribution, based on Aycliffe Business Park in Newton Aycliffe, plans to create 25 new jobs to meet growing demand.

The new roles, which will include HGV drivers, forklift drivers, administrative roles in transport operations and customer service representatives, will increase the firm’s staff numbers to 180.

Netherlands-based Dual Inventive, an international rail services provider, has announced plans to create 32 jobs at its newly-expanded 18,000 sq ft Doncaster base. The company, which has recently moved its Yorkshire base to the new Kestrel Court development near Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport, is aiming to create the jobs as part of its 10-year expansion plan.

A new multi-million pound care home development in West Yorkshire is set to create around 100 local jobs. Specialist nursing care firm Exemplar Health Care is investing £5m to open a new care home in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

Due to open at the end of the year, the care home will support 30 adults who need specialist nursing care and are living with a complex neuro or physical disability.

Elsewhere, a contact centre specialist plans to create further jobs at its sites in the North East and Yorkshire. ECO – formerly EC Outsourcing – is set to continue expanding its workforce at its centres in Sunderland and Sheffield after securing a raft of new contracts.

Based in Sunderland, ECO works with a number of national energy, retail and gaming brands providing remote sales and customer service. Since the beginning of the year, the firm has recruited 131 new members of staff, in some cases providing alternative employment for those affected by disruption to the hospitality and retail sectors. According to the company, ECO plans to continue its growth throughout 2021 to meet a growing demand for its outsourcing specialism.
