Jarell Group buys MRN Recruitment, plans up to six more deals this year

Jarell Group has acquired MRN Recruitment, a specialist industrial, horticultural and food manufacturing recruiter that focuses on the Lincolnshire region.

In a statement sent to Recruiter, the Birmingham-headquartered Jarell Group said the acquisition “will add more than 50 new clients to Jarell’s portfolio, and will go on to create numerous new jobs in recruitment and training within Spalding and the surrounding area”. The company also indicated there could be up to six further acquisitions this year.

The Jarell Group statement continues: “Based in Spalding in Lincolnshire, MRN Recruitment was identified by Jarell as an ideal acquisition as part of a strategic and continued growth plan in 2019.”

MRN Recruitment’s owner Brendan Moran said the takeover was “a wonderful opportunity for all of the MRN employees to work with an innovative market-leading workforce specialist”. He continued: “The abundant prospects open to the team now allow for even greater level of service to all of our valued clients and bring with it a wealth of new innovative added value solutions to our already exciting propositions.”

James Cronin, group commercial director at Jarell Group, said: “This acquisition is a real sign of intent for the Jarell Group at the start of 2019. Following six hugely successful acquisitions in the last two years, we plan to use the acquisition of MRN Recruitment as a platform for up to six further purchases across 2019. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone considering selling their business or senior recruitment specialist looking to take their next step into business management and ownership.”

In recent years, Jarell Group has been on the acquisition trail. Among its acquisitions were industrial and technical recruiter Nova Recruitment in 2018, Aurora Resourcing in 2017, Qualtech Resourcing in 2016 and specialist pharma recruiter Capital Pharma, also in 2016.

In November 2017, commercial director James Cronin told Recruiter that the group planned to do “three or four acquisitions each year” up to 2020, building up to a flotation, by which time he expected group turnover would double to £100m.

Birmingham-based Arran Jones from accountancy firm Michael Duffy Partnership (MDP) provided the lead advisory role for the MRN Recruitment acquisition. Greg Emms at Emms Gilmore and Liberson, also based in Birmingham, provided the legal support to complete the deal.
