UK recruiters have access to a pool of skilled workers from the new European Union states and some agencies have made the most of the new market
In the run-up to this fortnight’s general election, immigration policies took centre stage. Both Labour and Conservative manifestos called for measures to strengthen the limitations on the UK’s borders, and Home Office estimates placed the number of illegal migrants in the country at around 500,000.
