Foreign investment creates jobs in UK automotive sector

The UK’s automotive sector is to benefit from £130m foreign investment that will create 500 new jobs.

A statement from the Department for International Trade revealed three firms had chosen to open new automotive-related plants in the UK this month, creating around 500 jobs in the process.

The new factories include:

  • Canada’s Magna International’s opening of a new aluminium-casting factory in Telford to support Jaguar Land Rover, which will create 295 jobs when at full capacity
  • Austria’s Polytec launch of a new facility in Telford, which will build bumpers and accessories for car manufacturers, including Jaguar Land Rover and create 100 jobs
  • Spain’s Gonavrri’s commitment to create 60 jobs at division Steel & Alloy’s new steel processing plant in Oldbury, which will create 60 jobs.
