On behalf of our client in Greater Manchester we are seeking an experienced Sourcing and Procurement Engineer to join their organisation on a permanent basis.

Ideal candidates will have experience of identifying and sourcing suppliers in support of machining, welding and fabrication materials and components.

Role Requirements

Identify suppliers in order to select the most suitable vendors who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing.
Management of suppliers to ensure all objectives are met in relation to cost, delivery performance, schedule and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the sourcing activity and processes relating to supplier selection, capability assessment, quality improvement, and supplier readiness.
Act as a technical liaison between the Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and suppliers.
Source components which are extracted from engineering drawings and database information.
Perform regular performance review with suppliers to drive continuous improvements.
Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
Assist in the purchase of materials/services as required by production schedules to enable delivery requirements to be achieved.
Identify any risk or slippage affecting the ability to meet production schedules, liaising with Production Control.
To assist the Project Managers and Production Control by ensuring that Purchased requirements are expedited in accordance with need by dates.
Participate in the Estimating and Purchasing process by obtaining cost effective pricing for Parts and Part Services as required by the Sales/Estimating Team and in accordance with the Customer RFQ.
Ensure supplier quotations received conform to specification, procedure and expected delivery.


Ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholders and suppliers
Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the production, manufacture and customer order fulfilment.
Able to work well under pressure
Effective supply of materials and services to enable all delivery objectives to be achieved in the most cost–effective and timely manner.
Development and sustainability of reliable vendors to support the demands of the business.


Demonstrable experience in procurement, engineering, supply chain and/or quality management.
Knowledge of and able to discuss manufacturing processes such as; CNC Machining, Welding & Fabrication, Assembly & Test, NDE & Subsea Coating.
Ability to read engineering drawings is essential.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Work attitude that exhibits commitment; ability to work with a variety of personalities; persuasion skills; decision making; dependability; flexibility and adaptability
Fully IT proficient in typically used applications to both manage information and present to the business and customers.
