About the role

This FTSE-listed Defence and Aerospace organisation are looking to recruit a "Buyer - Sourcing Specialist" to join their Group Procurement team.

This organisation provides skilled, bespoke engineering services which allow their customers to improve their own performance whilst reducing costs. They work in highly regulated environments managing complex assets for both defence and civil customers. They maintain, upgrade, operate and manage expensive infrastructure and essential equipment for a range of government bodies and private sector customers in the UK and internationally

Reporting to the Group Category Manager, you will support sourcing activities, provide market and data analysis, and will undertake independent sourcing projects utilising a six step sourcing process, the role will also have responsibility to support provision of reports for the group.

Your key deliverables will include:

  • Assist in the development of Category strategies that maximise value for the Group, based on understanding of business needs and the supply market potential;
  • Develop a good understanding of the specific supply markets relating to HR and Corporate Services Category;
  • Support and Conduct sourcing activities to meet Group-wide requirements in support of the overall Category strategy.
  • Conduct market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award activities in respect of a specific portfolio of services.
  • Implement sourcing and supplier management initiatives to deliver against the Value Plan; this will involve running and delivering sourcing projects from conception through to completion.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Group, working closely with them to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Six-step strategic sourcing
  • Establish and maintain the highest standards of professionalism for all aspects of Category Management, including: data-analysis, sourcing strategies, market engagement, commercial evaluations, supplier management, written and verbal communications.

What do I need to do the role?

We would like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Experience in a Procurement / Category / Buyer role or similar
  • Degree qualified - desirable
  • Working towards MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification
  • Excellent MS Excel skills
  • Understanding of the procurement sourcing process
