Regional Sourcing Manager - R&D Laboratory Instrumentation

The Regional Sourcing Manager for Lab instrumentation aims to analyse, develop and challenge all aspects of new and ongoing R&D outsourcing/insourcing of lab equipment and suppliers. The position works closely with the key business partners to assess and manage all sourcing needs in support of all scientific aspects.

The Regional Sourcing Manager provides analysis, advice and management relating to the engagement and selection of key vendors and partners to support R&D Lab Instrumentation.

As an integral member of the Procurement team, this role will be responsible for identifying opportunities which reduce the total cost of ownership, along with the development and implementation of sound sourcing strategies which assist in achieving optimal Life Science R&D outcomes.

The position will also be involved in the creation of key policies and procedures, whilst also evaluating and selecting emerging technologies to deliver efficiencies within the procurement process.

As the Sourcing Manager for R&D Lab Equipment, you will be responsible for ensuring all operational R&D Lab Equipment sourcing requests are executed in compliance with relevant policies, standards, guidelines, and operating procedures, including preferred supplier arrangements and contracts.


* Understand end user requirements and leverage the applicable category buying guides and sourcing knowledge to determine the best method for driving value in meeting the requirement.

* Perform operational sourcing activities by executing operational sourcing requests within the region or large site ensuring a focus on efficiency and the quality of customer service.

* Lead projects, employ sourcing strategies, and deliver a sourcing and procurement process which is integrated with all relevant business owners.

* Optimize the selection of suppliers, negotiated pricing and total cost of ownership.

* Drive cost savings synergies across departments and business franchises.

* Identify and implement best practices for areas of responsibility. Build strong internal and external procurement and management relationships.

* Ensure site compliance to global procurement policies, legal policies, financial controls, quality directives and relevant SOPs.

* Provide analytical and project management leadership for sourcing initiatives.

* Develop Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposals (RFP), Service Contracts, Machinery and Equipment Agreements and Material Supply Agreements as required.

* Develop and execute strategy to manage and grow relationships with existing and new suppliers (including cost analysis).

* Develop and administer contracts; ensure timely delivery. Perform ongoing supplier relationship management in order to ensure suppliers' compliance with contractual obligations.

* Develop and manage effective stakeholder relationships with departments and advise on supplier selection, products and services.

* Manages the excess capital asset re-deployment program. Establish and maintain a process for reallocation and disposal of unused equipment


* Life Sciences knowledge laboratory instrumentation and services.

* An experienced procurement professional with extensive knowledge of sourcing and supply chain management.

* 5 - 10 years procurement experience

* Degree - Business Administration/Procurement or Technical

* Contract law knowledge and working experience of supplier T&Cs

* MCIPS, CPM, CPSM or equivalent professional qualification
