Business Development Manager
Are you a proven door-opener, and also a deal closer? Can and do you operate across all levels of company hierarchies to engage key stakeholders from Operations, Human Resources, Finance and Procurement to identify, develop and win new contracted and contingent recruitment opportunities within technical and built environment sectors?
Our Client is part of a privately owned national group of specialist recruitment and business services companies, established for over 60 years. This brand operates within the built environment, design and manufacture, commercial automotive, aerospace & defence, engineering consultancy and life science markets, amongst others. They have a network of branches across southern England, with strategic plans to expand further northwards in the UK to give greater geographical coverage.
Reporting to the Managing Director, their new Business Development Manager will possess the following characteristics in their existing career history:
- A demonstrable and trackable record of identifying, pitching to and winning deliverable recruitment campaigns on either a contracted or preferred contingent basis from within the companies existing sectors of operations.
- The ability to network from cold and warm leads at the highest level of seniority with SME, national and multi-national organisations from within the businesses sectors of operations, and to secure engagement from all potential Clients interested stakeholders to ensure buy-in and maximise operational success at delivering services and solutions, and profitability of Client accounts.
- An in-depth knowledge of recruitment matters, including appropriate understanding of relevant legislation, the range of known recruitment solutions available to the market, and an ability to articulate at formal and informal presentations and meetings, the benefits of our Clients services.
- Be self-motivated and independent: with over forty years of operations behind them, this organisation has an extensive Client data base which could be further developed, but they are keen to broaden their service delivery within their chosen sectors, so the ability to win brand new business is essential.
Personal traits required include the ability to work in a 'supported autonomy'; to be tenacious whilst at all times maintaining decorum and professionalism; to be a seductive communicator; to radiate authenticity; to have commercial acumen to identify opportunities (but also to know when to walk away); a desire to deliver and to make Clients experiences exceed their expectations.

This role would suit existing Business Development professionals from within the vertical sector recruitment markets: the successful candidate with be currently or have been recently working within the Construction Recruitment, Engineering Recruitment or other Technical Recruitment markets; it could attract an existing successful Senior "360" Recruitment Consultant who has a preference and demonstrable track record of souring, pitching for and winning new business opportunities within their field. This is not a suited role for anyone who does not love winning brand new accounts.
