When the pharmaceutical giants SmithKline Beecham (SB) and Glaxo Wellcome merge later this year, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for SB’s innovative learning and development programme. An initiative that Willie Deese, the firm’s director of worldwide purchasing, claims has helped the purchasing function to exceed its targets by 30 per cent.
