Thu, 21 Aug 2014More than 100 new jobs are being created in Northern Ireland following an announcement by North American investment, enterprise, trade and investment minister (Northern Ireland Assembly) Arlene Foster.

According to a statement issued by Invest Northern Ireland, US-based security-as-a-service vendor Proofpoint is creating 94 new jobs in Belfast in an investment worth more than £6m.

Canadian-based Dalradian Resources is also creating 19 new jobs in County Tyrone to support its gold exploration project.

Proofpoint’s Belfast operation will become the research & development and operations centre for Proofpoint Essentials, which caters to small and medium-sized businesses.

It will also act as an operations and support hub for the company’s customer base in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Foster said the company’s investment followed its acquisition of local company Mail Distiller last year, and its attendance at the Northern Ireland Investment Conference last October.

Dalradian Resources controls the mineral rights to over 80,000 hectares in Northern Ireland.

Foster said the company “had the option of locating these jobs in Toronto but was swayed by Northern Ireland’s cost-effective business environment and the support offered by Invest NI”.

Invest NI has offered more than £600k of support for the new jobs at Proofpoint and over £326k of support for the jobs and associated training at Dalradian Resources.
