More job boards go live as regional network expands

Two more regional job boards have just gone live as part of the Just Jobs network.

Justjobscambs.co.uk and Justjobssuffolk.co.uk have joined Justjobsnorfolk.co.uk. The newly launched Cambridgeshire and Suffolk sites are offering recruiters free advertising during September and early October.

The network was founded by Norfolk business men Russell Evans and Gary Steward, who were frustrated by the high costs of advertising their own vacancies. The sites themselves are independently owned but the two remain directors of the network and are involved in its growth.

Owner of the Cambridgeshire site, Glenn Hoy, told Recruiter that another three Just Jobs sites are expected to launch before January 2011 and a further 12 during the year. Hoy said that while national job boards work well for employers with multi-office locations, he feels the ability to combine the power of the internet with detailed knowledge of the local job scene means that Just Jobs delivers a much more focused approach to the markets.

“It’s local jobs for local people,” he said. “[For candidates] this also means that there is less wasted time in reviewing jobs that appear ’local’ but may in fact be miles away and not suitable. For employers, their job reaches their local market quickly and cost effectively.”

As well as the network’s closeness to its community and local businesses, Hoy, who is experienced in business start-ups and franchising, as well as recruitment and marketing and advertising, aims to compete with the bigger boards and regional press by offering a competitive pricing model. “National job boards came about because of the almost monopolistic hold that the regional press had over employers, often charging premium rates for recruitment advertising,” he said.

“With Just Jobs Norfolk trading 400% up year-on-year in August and well ahead of targets, we are now satisfied that not only does the Just Jobs business model work well but the field of online recruitment advertising - delivered at a local level - is ready for rapid growth.”

The network aims to grow through franchise or joint venture routes, or as an add-on business for an existing local recruitment agency. It will not be restricted to county-wide launches and may also apply the model to cities and towns.
