Global motor company Ford is to create 11,000 new jobs across the US and Asia in 2014.

The firm will hire for 6,000 of these roles across Asia, the majority on hourly contracts, as it looks to open two more factories in China.

More than 80% of the 5,000 Ford roles in the US will be for technical professionals in positions including product development, manufacturing, quality and IT. Around 3,300 of these will be salaried.

The company says it has created 14,000 roles in the past two years in North America.

The firm also says it will open a new factory in Brazil, but no job figures are as yet linked to the new development.
