Tue, 9 Apr 2013New jobs are coming to business analytics and software firm SAS, pharmaceutical giant Novartis and two Devon manufacturers.

Devon
A two-day trip by business secretary Vince Cable to Devon saw two firms gain access to £7m of funding for growth under the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) scheme.

Manufacturing firm Plessey has access to £3.1m RGF money to establish a light emitting diode manufacturing plant at its Plymouth base. This should create 108 jobs.

Boat maker Princess Yachts will now be able to start drawing on a £4.6m grant as part of a £35m investment, which has already seen the creation of 290 jobs.

Novartis
The company is setting up a business services centre at its Beech Hill Campus in Dublin.

The firm already has significant operations in Ireland, although the company did not confirm what hiring intentions it had for the new centre.

SAS
The company is to create 94 ‘high-value’ roles as it opens a new laboratory and expands an existing unit in East Kilbride, nine miles South of Glasgow.

The announcement of a Scottish government investment package supporting the move was announced on a visit by Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond to New York.
