Blair’s Multiverse acquires AI talent software firm Searchlight

Workplace training company Multiverse has bought AI talent intelligence and skills assessment platform Searchlight for an undisclosed sum.

Co-founded in 2016 by Euan Blair (son of former UK prime minister Sir Tony Blair) and Sophie Adelman as WhiteHat, Multiverse was originally based in London but soon expanded across to the US, opening an office in New York in 2021.

California-based Searchlight was founded in 2018 by twins Anna Wang (above left) and Kerry Wang (above right), building a bias-free AI engine that understands competencies, soft skills, working styles and job requirements. It is claimed that Searchlight’s technology can identify new hires four times more effectively than traditional techniques.

The combination of Searchlight’s technology and talent will accelerate the use of generative AI and machine learning at Multiverse, according to the company statement. Searchlight’s custom-built and bias-free AI engine will help Multiverse’s ability to identify, analyse and close skills gaps within organisations through programmes that are closely mapped to customer business needs.

Blair, founder and CEO of Multiverse, said: “Most companies are on a journey of tech transformation and they want to do it in a way that is both equitable and effective. What often holds them back is the gap between the transformation they want to see, and the skills that will unlock it.

“Searchlight’s AI, platform and exceptional talent will allow us to better diagnose the skills needed within companies and deliver impactful solutions.”

Searchlight’s CEO Kerry Wang will become director of product and CTO Anna Wang will become head of AI at Multiverse.
